Safe-Ride-To-School Night

August 16, 5:00–6:30 p.m.

Safe-Ride-To-School Night provides Sheridan families a chance to find and tour Sheridan south site at 8400 Cody Dr. In addition, students who have signed up for busing will be able to experience the ride from their designated bus stops and back again.

Inter-State Studios will once again be taking our students’ photographs and offering photo packages.

Fun Night

October 12, 5:30–8:00 p.m.

This popular beginning-of-the-year event will take place at Irving Middle School this year. It is an opportunity for Sheridan students, their families and our community to gather for a night of games, fun and food!

R.E.A.C.H. Week (Reading Education Awareness in the Child’s Home)

November 12-16

Sheridan Elementary is excited to once again sponsor a R.E.A.C.H. Week campaign. This campaign offers a fun, easy and positive approach to fundraising and it supports the educational goals of our school. We hope that you will help by participating in this program. Our efforts will help provide for curriculum upgrades, various enrichment assemblies and activities, teacher grants and other school assistance.

Book Fair

February 19-21

Our annual Book Fair, sponsored by Scholastic Books, gives Sheridan families the chance to purchase reasonably-priced books, games and software for themselves or in honor of Sheridan teachers. A portion of the proceeds are given to our PTO. Visit the Sheridan Book Fair in the Media Center before or after your conferences in the fall with your student’s teacher.

Science Fair

March 6

All Sheridan students are welcome to create a science display for the Science Fair, held in the Sheridan gym. During the day, all of the students will visit the displays and in the evening, the fair is open to the public. The displays are judged and awards are given in several categories.

Art Fair

In the spring, students celebrate the arts by taking classes and displaying their own works throughout the school. In 2007, students worked on photography projects and decorated desks. These were then auctioned off along with baskets provided by each homeroom.

Skating Party

This year, the PTO will sponsor two skate parties at A&R Skate Center, 40th and Old Cheney Rd. Watch your newsletter for the announcement of dates and times.
